✅ Owner Responsibilities for a Healthy Rottweiler Puppy

To maintain the validity of this health guarantee, the following care standards must be met:

Vaccination & Parasite Prevention: Follow a licensed veterinarian’s schedule for vaccinations and deworming.
Proper Nutrition: Feed a balanced, high-quality diet appropriate for a large working breed like the Rottweiler. Avoid grain-heavy or low-protein foods.
Safe Exercise: Provide age-appropriate physical activity. Avoid intense jumping or prolonged running during the first 12 months, when rapid growth occurs.
Routine Vet Care: Schedule regular veterinary check-ups, and keep records of all visits, medications, and treatments.

📁 Medical Records & Notification

To file a claim under this guarantee, you must:

Retain and submit complete medical records, including diagnostic tests and relevant invoices.
Notify Evans Rottweilers in writing within 10 days of discovering a suspected hereditary/genetic condition.
Allow reasonable time for a second opinion by a veterinarian or specialist chosen by the breeder.

❌ Exclusions & Limitations

This guarantee does not cover:

Injuries, neglect, accidents, poisoning, environmental causes, or non-genetic health issues.
Temporary or common conditions: internal/external parasites, coccidia/giardia, kennel cough, minor hernias, retained baby teeth, cosmetic imperfections (ear set, tail carriage), non-disabling bite issues.
Issues linked to diet, environment, allergies, sensitivities, or illness after the puppy leaves our care.
Problems caused by excessive exercise, poor nutrition, obesity, or breeding without written approval.
Third-party costs: training, microchipping, elective surgeries, insurance, shipping/delivery fees, travel, or AKC upgrade registrations.
Resold or rehomed dogs: this guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original buyer.

Step 3 – Second Opinion:
We may request a second evaluation by our designated veterinary partner. If opinions differ, a neutral third-party specialist will offer a final ruling.

Step 4 – Resolution:
If a hereditary condition is confirmed, we will offer either a replacement Rottweiler puppy (when available) or a partial refund, depending on the situation.

Summary: Every puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian, receives age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, and leaves in good general health. We also provide a 24-month genetic health guarantee against specified congenital disorders, subject to the Buyer responsibilities and terms below.

1) General Health Guarantee

What’s Included

Pre-placement exam by a licensed veterinarian.
Age-appropriate core vaccinations and deworming completed to date of transfer.
A detailed veterinary health record and care schedule.

We guarantee that each puppy is in good general health at the time of sale/transfer.

2) Genetic Health Guarantee (24 Months)

Covered Congenital/Hereditary Conditions

Hip dysplasia (diagnosed and graded per OFA/PennHIP standards).
Elbow dysplasia (confirmed via radiographic evidence).
Certain hereditary cardiac conditions (e.g., subaortic stenosis) as diagnosed by a veterinary cardiologist.
Other breed-specific genetic disorders expressly listed in the Purchase Contract.

Remedies

If a covered genetic disorder is diagnosed within 24 months of the puppy’s date of birth and confirmed by two (2) independent licensed veterinarians (one may be a specialist), Evans Rottweilers will provide one of the following remedies, at our discretion:

Replacement puppy of equal value from a current or future litter (timing subject to availability), or
Partial reimbursement toward documented veterinary costs, not to exceed the original purchase price.

Remedies are limited to the options above and shall not exceed the puppy’s purchase price.

3) Buyer Responsibilities (To Keep This Guarantee Valid)

72-Hour Exam

Arrange an initial wellness exam with a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup or delivery. Provide the breeder with any findings that materially affect health.

Continuing Care

Follow a veterinarian-directed vaccination and parasite prevention program.
Maintain a balanced diet suitable for a large/giant working breed.
Provide age-appropriate exercise; avoid over-exertion during rapid growth (first 12 months).

Records & Notice

Retain and provide all medical records, diagnostics, and invoices relevant to any claim.
Notify Evans Rottweilers in writing within 10 days of any suspected hereditary condition.
Allow reasonable time for second opinions and review by our designated veterinarian/specialist.

4) Exclusions & Limitations

Non-genetic issues (injury, neglect, accidents, environmental causes, poisoning, heatstroke).
Common/temporary conditions such as coccidia/giardia, internal/external parasites, kennel cough, minor hernias, retained baby teeth, cosmetic faults (ear set, tail carriage), non-disabling under/over-bite.
Allergies, sensitivities, infections or illnesses attributable to diet, environment, or exposure post-transfer.
Conditions arising from excessive exercise, improper nutrition, obesity, or use as a breeding animal (no fertility/whelping guarantee unless explicitly stated in writing).
Third-party costs (travel, shipping, training, microchipping, insurance, registration upgrades, elective procedures).
Any sale/transfer to a new owner — this guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.

5) How to File a Claim

Step 1 — Notify

Send written notice describing the condition within 10 days of diagnosis to info@evanssrottweilers.com.

Step 2 — Provide Records

Include complete medical records, radiographs/imaging, lab results, and contact details for the diagnosing veterinarian(s).

Step 3 — Second Opinion

Permit evaluation by a breeder-designated veterinarian/specialist. If diagnoses conflict, a mutually agreed specialist will render a final opinion.

Step 4 — Remedy

Upon confirmation, we will offer a replacement puppy (when available) or partial reimbursement per Section 2.

6) Term, Governing Law & Entire Agreement

The genetic guarantee term is 24 months from date of birth; general health representations apply at time of sale/transfer.
This guarantee is governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and applicable federal law.
This document is incorporated into, and subject to, the executed Purchase Contract. In the event of conflict, the signed contract controls.
Liability is limited to the purchase price; no incidental, consequential, or special damages.

7) Our Ongoing Support

Our relationship doesn’t end at pickup. We’re available for lifetime support on training, nutrition, health, and responsible ownership. If circumstances change at any point, we will accept any dog we bred back into our program to ensure a safe, loving home.
